Should Blackberry just adopt the Android OS?

For us that have used or owned a Blackberry device before are well aware of how disastrous the OS has become. The OS is full of bugs and operates as fast as the pc you had (or have) after you downloaded a ton of porn and it later became infected with viruses, spyware and malware.

Great companies tend to adapt to the markets wants and needs, Blackberry, on the other hand, is going in the opposite direction. Instead of fixing what has become known as a sluggish OS, they add new features that just make the OS run even slower. I think the two thing that Blackberry has going for them is what has become their trademarks, their push e-mail and their BES security.

Those two things are not going to be enough to save Blackberry in what is now an extremely competitive mobile market. Blackberry is really going to have to do some major overhaul to their OS if they want to remain relevant to consumers. So, I would like to propose a quick fix to RIM. Adopt the open source Android OS.

Adopting the Android OS could be a permanent or temporary fix for RIM. The Android has now become a proven OS in the mobile market. Also, since it is an open source OS it's not going to cost RIM any money. I think if RIM adopts the Android and creates a nice Blackberry skin that would include their popular Blackberry Messenger, their Corporate push E-mail service and, if possible include the BES system for the Android OS then it could possibly become relevant to consumers again.

I think it would be smart for RIM to consider this and it would be wise for them to actually proceed with integrating Android into their phones because, let's face it, RIM isn't very good at developing a working OS.
