Standing in front of me. A white colored iPad 2. At first glance it appears to be quite similar to the original one. The screen is not crisp like the iPhone's 4 retina display. That's quite a shame. I'm guessing that's saved for the next installment. Upon grabbing the tablet. It's quite thin. More thin then you might ever consider from pictures. But the offset is the weight. There's a balancing issue here that should have been corrected. I wish it could be just a little lighter. Much like how the MacBook Air is. The new speaker design is a nice touch but headphones or external speakers will always win overall. One of the biggest changes between the 1st generation and the second. Would have to be the addition of two cameras. A front camera VGA with up to 30 frames per second and VGA-quality still camera. As for the back camera it will film in HD (720p) with up to 30 frames per second. Also a still camera but with the added 5x digital zoom. The idea was not only much needed but expand the use of so many more apps and features. With those good things said. Here comes the bad. The quality is just terrible when comparing it with what's inside of the iPhone 4. A device that was release about a year before. This shows poor effort on Apple's part. Not to mention it just felt oddly weird to take photos with a device of this size.
The graphics and the overall speed are solid. Games are loading faster. When using the photo booth app. You can see just a taste of the power. In which there are 9 live picture effects running. In apps you will notice the change though It's hard to notice any with in the speed of the O.S. As of now there's only a few apps that will take true use of the new iPad's features. I'm sure more will follow.
Overall it's a nice clean upgrade with minor problems that I'm sure will be addressed In the iPad 3. If your still enjoying the first generation. Stay with it. Now if your prating the idea to go with the second version. Stand ground and hold on for about another year.
